From Monmouth: " In addition to Sunday’s Grade 1 United Nations Stakes, fans at Monmouth Park will get to leave with a little something extra, a beach towel. All paid admissions to the racetrack will receive the multi-colored logo beach towel, while supply lasts. Also on Sunday, and every Sunday, it’s Family Fun Day with clowns, pony rides, a bounce house and face painters to entertain the kids, plus the Mike Dalton Band playing live 'On the Green.' Gates open Sunday at 11:30 a.m., with first post set for 12:50 p.m. The $500,000 United Nations Stakes, Monmouth’s top event for turf runners, goes as the 12th and final race on the card."

Monmouth Park

Have realized that the great majority of Monmouth's premier races (Monmouth Stakes, Pegasus, Salvator Mile, United Natioms, Iselin, Sapling, Sorority, Cliffhangar, Eatontown) as well as the stronger stakes every weekend have been held on Sunday as well as the Haskell card but that is traditionally on a Sunday. I do not know if this is a conscious effort by track management to schedule this way, maybe because Saturday is usually the strong day for stakes nationally and in N.Y and maybe they thought they could garner more attention from fans, horesemen, and bettors if their race was the Sunday standout but I must say from an attendance standpoint it is not working. I have been on track every Sunday and by the time the feature race is run around 6pm the track is 70% cleared out. Anyone that is familiar with Monmouth(@AndyScoggin) or anyone else care to weigh in

tmallios · It is sad for Monmouth. From a logistics angle,it is my favorite track in America. It is big enough to be a major track,yet small enough and convenient enough to get around without having to walk a mile ,like at CD or Belmont Park. Unfortunately the NY crowds are getting less and less as well as the Pennsylvania crowds. If you think this is bad,can you imagine if they ran all week as other venues. But i do understand. buckpasser · Sadly unless they can increase the track wagering or find an additional revenue stream, they may well be gone. In order to put on many of their stakes races previously, they borrowed from the NJ Sports Authority a sizable amount of money. · 4103 days ago

This Saturday Monmouth will provide guests with a free Miller Lite Grandstand Pass for the month of July with paid admission to the park. Along with a full card of live racing, patrons can enjoy the VIP Hangout section, where beer specials, games, music, and giveaways will be on tap. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, with the first race set for 12:50 p.m.

29,000+ fans attended the races on Fathers Day yesterday at Monmouth Park breaking an attendance record for Father's Day( a traditionally crowded day) and nearing attendance totals for Haskell Day, Monmouth's premiere racing day. Admission for all men was free and over 1 million dollars was wagered. I've come to develop 2 theories based on yesterday's attendance numbers. A.) Track attendance would be higher accross the board if there was free admission everyday. B.) Track attendance would be higher accross the board if Dad got to make the family plans every weekend!

Father's Day at Monmouth: "All Dads will receive free Grandstand admission. In addition, all fathers and those paying admission will receive an entry blank to win tickets to local sporting events, including baseball, football, basketball and more. Also on tap, $3 Budweiser specials will be served throughout the racetrack with a special fan 'hangout' just behind the Grandstand featuring the popular game Cornhole. And on Sunday, it’s Family Fun Day, with clowns, pony rides, face painters and a bounce house to entertain the kids. Gates open on Sunday at 11:30 a.m., first post 12:50 p.m."

From Monmouth: "The 44th annual Irish Festival will return to Monmouth Park this Sunday. The festivities will begin at 11 a.m. with a traditional Irish mass on the paddock side of the Grandstand, and continue all day until 7 p.m. There will be live music throughout the day as musicians compete in the Irish band and dance competitions, as well as the bagpipe and drum competition. Patrons will also be able to purchase Irish food and merchandise from vendors throughout the park, as well as watch the Human Horse Race, where 12 runners will face off in a showdown on Monmouth’s main track for charity, each in his or her own saddle cloth. The festival will also feature a special beer garden, as authentic Irish beers Guinness, Harp, and Smithwicks will be on tap. There will be plenty of opportunities for family fun as patrons with children can bring them to the Thorofan Kid’s Club for arts, crafts, and activities in the Breeders’ Cup Garden, and to Monmouth Park’s Family Fun Day for face painting, pony rides, and a bounce house in the picnic area. Gates open early at 10 a.m. for the festival, with all patrons wearing kilts receiving free Grandstand admission."

From Monmouth: "Monmouth Park gates will open at 11:00 a.m. this Saturday in anticipation of California Chrome’s shot at the Triple Crown. All the simulcast action from Belmont Park will be beamed into Monmouth, with the first race from Elmont, N.Y. set at 11:35 a.m. Monmouth Park’s first live race is at 12:50 p.m. with the $60,000 Crank It Up Stakes highlighting the card."

Reservations now available for Belmont watch party in Monmouth's Turf Club: "Monmouth Park will welcome guests to the Turf Club Saturday, June 7 from 11am to 7pm, as California Chrome seeks to acquire the third and final jewel of the Triple Crown. For $40, patrons will be provided with valet parking, Clubhouse admission, a racing program, a special selection sheet, a lunch buffet, access to a cash bar, and a great seat and atmosphere to watch California Chrome’s attempt at history. Guests will also be able to enjoy a full card of live racing at Monmouth Park. Seating is limited and reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis – no walk-ups. A handicapper’s delight awaits fans this Saturday as Monmouth Park plays host to a $300 tournament which will award four players seats in the 2015 DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship. From the $300 entry fee, $100 will be used as the player’s bankroll which will be used for win, place and/or show wagers on races from Monmouth Park, Belmont Park or Pimlico Racecourse, with a minimum of five wagers at Monmouth. Andy and Brian,i think that you guys posted that you know the current Announcer at Monmouth Park. I like him alot,he has a crisp voice and picks up the horses in a very fast and accurate manner. Please tell him one thing,continue to perfect his method. Do not let him become a drama queen like most of them turn into,the ones that become the race instead of calling the race. Absolutely no theatrics. So far he is going great.

Monmouth Park

I went for opening day today. There was on and off rain , the track was fast. I watched the first 2 races of the day on TVG and showed up to the track just after the 5th race. They were off the Turf today. The track was EXTREMELY speed favoring. Of the 8 races I watched today only 2 horses came off the pace to win. Made for a pretty easy betting day if you could identify the speed. Overall was a great day. Before the heavy rain there was a very nice crowd and I got to see one of my favorite horses Ribo Bobo win the $75,000 Decathlon Stakes at 6F.

Buckpasser · The majority of racetracks have stands built to accommodate thousands of fans and that was needed years ago when 40k+ fans attended a Normal Saturday card. What really is needed is to have smaller grand stands with better amenities, similar to what Gural did at the Meadowlands when he built the new grandstand. · 4151 days ago
