My sister works the ambulance at golden gate field and said she witnessed the saddest thing there, which apparently had the fans leaving. I had to defend the horse racing industry as a whole, but Golden Gate needs to step up there standards when it comes to the athletes on the track and no I'm not talking the jockeys.

shooker17 · One of the horses broke its leg and I guess was scared for his life and in pain squealing and they seemed more worried about making sure the next race went off on time, along with the jockey ok, rather than concerns for the horse. Freak accidents happen and I told her it could always be worse for the horses(ending up on a dinner table), but simple fact is horses just don't get enough credit, especially the unknown ones. Even TVG doesn't give updates on horses that break down or get pulled up, so I rely on this site to try n make sure they are ok. Anyhow I guess the crowd was disgusted and she said they all like left. · 4123 days ago

Golden Gate Fields

This is where it all began for me. This is where my father took me as a child and introduced me to the world of horse racing. A lot of wonderful memories here. A great little track with grand views. Throw in the winningest jockey, Russell Baze, and you have quite an experience.
