I think it still remains to be seen whether Aidan O'Brien will actually bring all of his top horses that have entires into world cup night races in Dubai, but assuming he actually does bring them all to Dubai, I personally believe he should go Dubai Gold Cup with Leading Light, Sheema Classic with Ruler of the World, Dubai Duty Free with Kingsbarns, Godolphin Mile with Afonso De Sousa, Golden Shaheen with Cristoforo Colombo, and Dubai World Cup with Magician. I think the races I just mentioned for each horse are the races that would best suit each of those horses at Meydan and give O'Brien the strongest chance of winning, IMO.

ILuvTurfRacing · @EP Taylor, I think Magician was held up off the pace in the BC Turf because at that time it was unclear whether or not he'd stay 12f because he hadn't tried the distance yet. But watch the replay of Magician's win in May, 2013 in the G3 Dee Stakes at Chester over 10-1/2f. He settled just right off the pace right behind the leaders and when Ryan Moore ask him for run he exploded away from the Dee Stakes field winning easily. I disagree with paul.nathan.946. Yes, Ruler of the World ran well in the G1 Champion Stakes at Ascot over 10f, but I think he's a much better horse going 12f than 10f. Whereas Magician has shown excellent form at a mile, 10-1/2f, & 12f in his career. JMO. · 4227 days ago

This story comes from Thursday morning's Racing Post web-site: Forensic test are being carried out to determine the cause of a fire that broke out at the home of Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle on Wednesday night. Members of O'Brien's family were in the house when the blaze broke out at about 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday night, although all escaped unharmed, while no horses were caught up in the fire either. I always hate reading stories like this. Glad to see that all is well with Aidan and his family and no one got injured. Also very glad to hear none of the Ballydoyle horses were injured either. Best wishes to the O'Brien family.

Became the first trainer to win both the G1 English 2000 and 1000 Guineas in the same weekend at Newmarket since 1942 according to AtTheRaces.com. A testament to how difficult it is to win these races. No matter how good your horses are?

I think it was pretty bad that Aidan O'Brien had 3 of his horses win a total of 5 major G1 stakes on the turf this year and he didn't even at least get a trainers Eclipse Award nomination? But if he doesn't at the very least get to walk the stage to accept the Eclipse Award for Cape Blanco as 2011 Turf HOY, it will be a disgrace, IMO.

ILuvTurfRacing · I need to correct myself hear. It wasn't 3 of Aidan's horses that won 5 major G1 turf stakes in America. It was 4 of his horses that won 6 major G1 turf stakes in America. I had completely forgotten about Treasure Beach coming over and winning the G1 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington. That's a huge winning % per number of horses sent to America for these races. · 4997 days ago

I don't know how anyone could think that Aidan didn't get snubbed by the Eclipse Award folks? He trained Cape Blanco the 3 straight major G1 turf win's in America, shipping back and forth from Ireland each time. He trained St Nicholas Abbey for the Breeders Cup Turf win. He trained Wrote for the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf win, and if she hadn't stumbled so badly coming out of the gate, we might even be saying that he had trained Misty For Me for the BC F&M Turf win. I guess maybe the Eclipse Award folks expected So You Think to win the BC Classic before Aidan would be considered?

ILuvTurfRacing · @BrianZipse, as well he should. I'm not by any stretch of the imagination suggesting that O'Brien should win the Eclipse Award. For my $$$, I think it's hard to overlook Bill Mott given the Breeders Cup he had as well. But Aidan definitely had the resume', strictly on what his horses did here in America, IMO. · 5003 days ago
